This was a terrific read, Shteyngart is a great writer.  It's set in NYC in the near future.  The main character is Lenny, a 39 yo son of Russian Jewish immigrants.  He is obsessed with death, more specifically non-existence, falling in the camp that would prefer to avoid it.  He falls in love with a much younger woman, Eunice.  The times are difficult in America and people are in two groups, HNWI (high net worth individual) or LNWI.  Lenny works for a company that sells indefinite life extension but can't afford the procedures.

It was about half way through that I realized the bulk (all?) of the story is told via Lenny's diary entries and Eunice's dispatches (emails, texts) to her bff, sister and mom.

What else?  Only that Shteyngart wrote the fuck out of this book.  Highly recommended.
