1 year deal
Max Starks tweets that he’s returning to Steelers
Posted by Darin Gantt on July 17, 2012, 2:41 PM EDT
The Steelers apparently have some depth on the offensive line now.
Veteran tackle Max Starks just tweeted out a picture of a one-year contract with the Steelers, along with the message “It’s real and sealed! I’ll be seeing you in Latrobe!”
Bringing back the 30-year-old Starks lends some stability to what could have been a shaky position for the Steelers. If Starks is ready to start, it will keep them from having to use second-round pick Mike Adams at left tackle before he’s ready, or switching Marcus Gilbert from right tackle.
Starks tore an ACL in the playoff loss to Denver last year, and the team wasn’t sure he’d be ready for camp, but apparently, they decided to move now.

That is good news indeed. Hopefully he's healthy and if so, the line, an weakness last season, looks to be a strength for this one.

We should just keep a Max Starks singed thread and bump it every year about this time.

LOL. I'm cool with bringing him back though. Gilbert seems to be coming along. Adams, Inc. Colon, OG, could revert to RT, but would open a hole at OG. Uhhhh, Jon Scott? Pass. Trai Essex? Not as good as Starks. Our 4 OTs should be Gilbert, Adams, Essex, Starks. Cut Scott.
That ain't bad at tackle, really, depending on how quickly the young guys get it.

Oh, i agree. If he's in shape I'm happy to have him as a starter or a backup. Always been surprised a solid player like Starks couldn't get a look from another team. Maybe he just likes playing in Pittsburgh, who knows.

Really, that's the only issue. I had been hoping they would bring him back.
I'd be very surprised if a guy that size is ready to go 6 months after wrecking an ACL.

Indeed. Wasn't his injury around the same time as Hampton's? Guess they'll continue to convalesce together.

The size of them two, it's more like a convoy-escence.
Thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the steak.

Hampton's came in the Denver game, 2 weeks later.
Hampton didn't require surgery. If Starks got the clearance to start running now, and was going up and down stairs back in March without problems, I think there may be a question of whether Starks only suffered a partial (2nd degree) tear. Hamp might have had a 2nd degree or 1st (strain).
Get the hot dog rotisserie out, these guys are hitting camp in the best shape of their lives.
