I think my bulb was around $100. He cleaned out the inside, which is probably what caused the excess heat and ruined the chip.
It's our main TV - the one with the DVR. But I don't watch it during the day. The bulb he replaced had just under 7500 hrs. on it.

$100 is about what I recall the bulb being without the housing. I'm curious to see what the prices are now. Maybe they are going down since LCD won and demand for DLP bulbs is pretty low.
I never took the time to go through the menu to look at the hours on bulbs, or reset it. Next time I replace it I should reset just to see how many hours I get out of it.
EDIT - I looked it up on the site I purchased from last time. The price from the same supplier has increased $24. Although, it is allegedly currently on sale for $32 less than I paid last time.
EDIT EDIT - OK the 2nd site I looked at has the Mits replacement bulb for my TV for $105 plus free shipping. GEEZUS, for all u nosy bitches, my last bulb, which was a Mits, was $168. I'm seeing other places that have them Way less than $100. hmmmm
How Stuff Works says older bulbs were good for 1000 to 2000 hrs. Newer ones 6000 to 7000 hrs. That would be nice, except when i blows up on a Sunday morning during fb season.

I wouldn't say I've been *missing* it, Bob.

Thanks fellas. Both for the info and the comedy relief. Every day I get home and plug them in just to see...Having not TV sucks...Having no TV on Sunday is probably going to kill me.

Hey, it's a sweet ride. I can put the windows down and let the pony-tail flap in the wind.
