I assuaged the discomfort of not being at work by reading Mark E. Smith's (sort of auto-) biography imaginatively entitled The Fall.  It had the unfortunate side of effect of all documentations of still-living artists, which is to say, it made me like the subject less than I did before I knew they were like that in real life.

Day 3 of no work.  Running out of things to do.  Still plenty of food left, stocked up on booze and stuff to smoke.  Might go up to the roof like Alex Chilton and wait for someone to rescue me.

Saturday: Did all my grading, watched college football.
Sunday: Steelers game; kicked finny's ass at FF; got drunk.
Monday:  Read all day, watched antiques roadshow.  Got drunk.
Tuesday:  Slept, repotted plants, cleaned bird cage.  Went out (the horror!), got drunk.
Wednesday: _____________________; got drunk.

You fuckers not in the northeast think it's all sweetness and light having no work for a week.  But I'm here to tell you, seven straight days of girlfriend stuff is no joke.  Watch movie with girlfriend, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with girlfriend, go to girlfriend's choice of bars, hang out with girlfriend's friends, all small talk and giggles make penso something something.
