The regular season is over, and the JV teams have left the field clearing the way for what looks to be a ringding boffo humdinger of a playoff shindig.

Who didn't make it:

Y2Joyce's Experienced Livers were unfortunately hamstrung by the series of injuries to Pittsburgh's qb's late in the season, and Arizona's inability to provide service for Mike Wallace-wannabe Lary Fitzgerald.  Via con dios to last year's champ.

Jonzr's Felonius Thunk made a late and furious charge at a playoff berth after a horrible start to the year.  Second in the league in scoring, tenth in your hearts, Bonzr's bubble burst in the end but he does have a sure-fire keeper in RG3.

Rex Ryan's aj_law's Taint Ticklers continued to be mired in mediocrity despite nabbing Arian Foster in an early season trade with the Chickens, perhaps the single best (or worst, depending on your perspective) trade in MGSFF history.

Pain's The Touchy Feelies won one game but did manage to break the 1,000 point barrier.  Still he can chalk it up to a learning experience and come back strong next year.

The matchups:

#1 Cap'n Chaos' Chaos Unlimited vs. #8 Spen's Spen's Angry Reds

Our resident baltimaroon surged in the second half to squeak in via the tie break.  Matt Stafford, Brandon Marshall and Jimmy Graham make for a solid lineup in any given week.  He'll be looking to upset the upstart Unlimiteds, top of the league in both wins (11) and points (1357).  Paced by Payton Manning and Ray "Ray" Rice, Chaos gets the team no one wants to face in the playoffs in the red-hot Spens; I'm gonna call this the two in the pink one in the stink Shocker special with FF wunderkind Chaos eliminated in the first round.

#4 Kluisi's BenRapedMeToo vs. #5 msdmnr's Msdmnr's Mongrels

Not much to separate these two sides as they finished with identical 7-6 marks with only a 9 point differential.   The matchups may favor the Mongreloids this week, especially if Eli Manning continues to tank it for BRMT.  It says here that Kluisi rolls on into the next round.

#3 Scacalaki's Hungry Whoremongers vs. #6  Finnegan Wake's The Sportin' Woodleys

Finny is surely breathing a sigh of relief as his early season success netted him enough points to slip into the tournament atop a four-way tie at 6-7.  As the Rodgers goes, so goes the Woods, and the return of BBR should pay residuals for AB's owner.  The Homongers are perhaps unlucky to have the bff Brady-Welker coupling versus Houston in what should be the game of the week on Monday night.  Look for F'in Weak to right his ship at the right time.

#2 pensodyssey's Chickens of Cromartie-Gao vs. #7 KC's Keystone Cops

The chicken's path to the number two seed was an unorthodox one, overcoming the disatrous Foster for Shady "flaming bag of fantasy shit" McCoy deal.  KC as the #7 seed actually outpointed the chickens in the regular season, so it is unlikely the birds will be looking past this first round matchup.  KC's hopes rest in large part on two iffy rb's, Demarco Murray and Darren McFadden, as well as on a less-than-appetizing CJ Spiller versus a chippy Rams defense.  The chickens meanwhile hope that it's Ryan-to-White early and often, and that Dwyer puts two good games together in a row against SD.  This is a tricky matchup for MGS' dynastic chickens, but the talismanic presence of Antonio Cromartie will provide the inspiration to push the poulets past KC.

Of three RBs (AP, Lynch, Forte), I make the wrong keeper choice, and trade him anyway to upgrade WR.  Two other strarters at RB go to IR (McGahee, Ced Benson); WR DeSean Jackson to IR; the other keeper, Rodgers, a no-brainer, has been the fantasy equivalent of a Chad Henne....  I know I'm forgetting some other stupid drops/trades/injuries.  Whole season is accursed.

The 6-game losing streak is fucking Eagles-like.  I have no confidence in the Woodleys.

You know it's bad luck when you have more points than all of the teams in the playoffs except the 1st place team.

I'm gonna fire the entire coaching staff and turn over most of the roster.

I think one could argue that the decision to not take Manning in the deal was probably the worst part of the trade.

Shitty year.  A poor draft coupled with a shit kickin' season from Newton equals no playoffs.  Someone needs to be shot.

G/L to those that made the tourney.

Glad I didn't get the keeper I tried to throw in at the last moment pre-draft.....MJD

Weird season.  I don't have the quality to be 3rd seed.  It's been difficult enough to get my lineup set each week in time for gameday (f'in Thursday night games each week) so I have no clue how I stack up against the rest.  I don't expect much of my crew

Early in the season I did not think I would win a game. I could not make the draft and autodraft decided I didn't need runningbacks. I was as surprised as anyone when my team got hot. After some long seasons it is nice to return to the playoffs.

Well played Spen.  Good luck the rest of the way.  Hope you run the board.

Can't believe I go one and done after such a great regular season.  Now I don't even have fantasy hockey to waste my time with.    What will I do?

Wow.  Bunch of beatdowns this week.  I "kept it close," losing by only 29.

I like the recap article - not bad for automated.

Except they screwed the pooch in my other league.  Top story should have been me getting fucked over by a career performance from Brandon Lloyd, with a fumble recovery in the end zone leading to a 3 point win.

Thanks for the ringing endorsement of my handcrafted recaps, msdmnr.  You do know that some day the computers will do all our doctoring for us, too.  But hey, if you love the robot so much, why don't you marry it?  I warn you though, I've seen Blade Runner and I know what happens.  It's too bad the girl won't live... but then again, who does?

#1 Cap'n Chaos' Chaos Unlimited 70 pts. vs. #8 Spen's Spen's Angry Reds 108 pts

The upset SPECTACULAR happened.  Peyton Manning had one of those games that looks like it should have been bigger than it was, and just about everyone else on Chaos' roster produced half their projected total.  Spen meanwhile benefitted primarily from 19 of the most in-real-life meaningless points ever from Mike "Dinosaur Arms" Wallace.  Kudos to Chaos as the regular season chumpion.

#4 Kluisi's BenRapedMeToo 99 pts vs. #5 msdmnr's Msdmnr's Mongrels 72 pts

Lemme put this in machine language, so msdmnr can "compute" it.

5. print "Better luck next year"
10. goto 5

#3 Scacalaki's Hungry Whoremongers 159 pts vs. #6  Finnegan Wake's The Sportin' Woodleys 94 pts

The tale of this will be the 42 points the Homongs got out of Seattle's D.  I cannot remember the last time a team D put up a comparable number.  But then, wouldn't I remember it if it happened before?  Man, this is like the time I got mugged; but that's a story for another day, remind me to tell you guys.  Anyway, it appears the Rodgers may have worked himself into the "Is this guy good enough to keep again?" conversation.

Taking away the Seattle points, Scac'd have still won starting the Steeler D, thanks to Beardy and Hernandez.

#2 pensodyssey's Chickens of Cromartie-Gao 95 ptsvs. #7 KC's Keystone Cops 65 pts

The chickens get big games outta Roddy White and Montell Owens, and breathe a huge sigh of relief.  Meanwhile KC's Tony Romo looks at the calendar and shits the bed again.  Perhaps he's Mayan.  Anyway, too bad for KC, who might have been a load with CJ Spiller in coming weeks.

This week's slate:

#2 pensodyssey's Chickens of General Gao vs. #8 Spen's Spen's Angry Reds

Somebody's robot girlfriend is projecting a 6 point edge for the Chickens, but I just don't see it.  Spen has Stafford playing @ARI, Austin at home versus an Ike-less PIT, Brandon Marshall at home against GB, even BenJarvus Green-Ellis looks like a sure thing @PHI.  As for the Chix, hopes rest on Doug Martin going off @NO, and the Steelers having a lead late in Dallas so that Dwyer might be on the field in the 4th quarter instead of Rainey.  Still, Spen has been red hot and I don't think the Chickens have the feathers to knock him off.

#3 Scacalaki's Hungry Whoremogers vs.  #4 Kluisi's BenRapedMeToo

It's hard to see anyone beating Scac's starting 12 this week.  Yes, Seattle goes to BUF, and we all know how well Seattle travels.  However, NE is at home.  They play a tough Niners D, but wasn't the Texans D supposed to be good, too?  Scac starts Brady, Welker, and Hernandez, btw.  If Eli Manning plays like last week, BRMT has a shot.  But not, I think, without Dez Bryant.

Rodgers won't be kept.  Could have kept AP and Lynch; kept Rodgers and Forte, traded Forte.  Season.

May have to turn loose my seat for a younger GM, maybe see if I can get a job in the booth.

That's the cool thing.  They don't get old and puffy.  And yeah, Sean Young was the lead but I had no friggin clue who she was so I went with Hannah.

Congrats Penso, good win. I blame Stafford.

And so you should, since a decent outing from him was the difference.

I'll keep this week's recap minimal, since there are obviously far, far more important issues current amongst us at this time.

#2 pensodyssey's Chickens of Cromartie-Gao 93 pts vs. #5 Spen's Spen's Angry Reds 74 pts

#3 Scacalaki's Hungry Whoremongers 99 pts vs. #4 Kluisi's BenRapedMeToo 62 pts

Championship:
#2 pensodyssey's Chickens of Cromartie-Gao vs. #3 Scacalaki's Hungry Whoremongers

Hard to see anyone beating Scac as long as the Pasties are playing meaningful games; Scac gets a juicy one too, with NE@Jax.  The Chickens have a puncher's chance with the Ryan/White combo@Det.

3rd place game:
#4 Kluisi's BenRapedmeToo vs. #5 Spen's Spen's Angry Reds

A valuable point in the lifetime standings at stake here.  It's anybody's game; or to be more precise, it's whoever's-quaterback-doesn't-suck-the-most's game, with Stafford hosting ATL and Eli@BAL, respectively.

Season retrospective and standings update to follow next week.

Thanks all.  A little late for a full recap, but essentially the big Thursday night from Ryan and White set the Chickens up for a third title.  I make no bones about it though: the Chix are as shocked as the rest of the league, and got a really fortunate bounce with below average games from Brady, Welker, and Hernandez for scac's Whoremongers.  Good to see Shady McCoy return for a victory lap; still haven't decided if he contributed enough to merit a champeenship ring, though.

3rd place goes to kluisi's BenRapedMeToo.
