Gotta say, of their first four draft picks, I wasn't crazy about Jones or Wheaton, but these early camp reports that I've been reading sound pretty promising.  Be really nice if Wheaton can step right in and make a difference.

Sounds like Shamark has the right attitude and approach too:

Thomas eager and willing to learn.

Initially, I was a little scared of the prospect of a significant youth movement this year, but maybe this is just the kind of shot in the arm this team needs to get their edge back.

I think we'll notice Wheaton's name cropping up more and more as the year goes on.  I don't expect a lot early though.

Bell, I was mixed on.  But I think he has a great chance to be starter from game 1, and to be an interesting guy in the passing game as well.

Shamarko, big man love for the little man.

And I gotta say, some really nice reports about Jones.  I had my doubts.  He's doing his best to make me look foolish.  I think Worilds is going to piss around with niggling injuries and Jones will leapfrog him.

Burress is done, rotator cuff.  Time to call Hines!

Now they've just gotta get through the preseason without catching that nasty injury bug that's flying around the league.

Spaeth out 8-10 with a Lis Franc.

I was OK-fine with signing him back, but frankly there are good reports that Paulson is a mini-Heat, and Will Johnson is a very athletic FB/TE/H-back.  Spaeth's best year as a Steeler, he had 17-136.  Johnson's first year, he had 15-137.  If either of these guys can block worth a damn, no big loss.

I was hoping Spaeth would help whomever is at LT.  Did not expect him to have a significant impact as a receiver. Paulson did not look good as a blocker last year.  May be better with an offseason of training but we'll have to see.  Will Johnson was only at FB last year, correct?  I recall Mike Palmer from his Clemson days.  Was nothing special.

If offense is a concern, I think Dallas Clark remains a FA.  Daniel Graham was a decent blocker.  Other than that, not any other names out there.

Plax is done, WR Tyler Shaw signed.

Frankly, I think we have enough WR5 candidates.  I'd have taken a peak at either CB or OL.

Plax ain't coming back at 37, either.  I'm betting he retires a Steeler.
