And a few tweaks D-side.

Nose tackle (2).
Steve McLendon,Alameda Ta’amu, Hebron Fangupo .
Al Woods is a lock as backup DE, but curiously has gotten more play as backup NT than Ta’amu or Fangupo.  Don’t know if that is good or bad.  Still think one of those two makes it, and right now that’s Ta’amu.

Defensive ends (4).
Ziggy Hood, Brett Keisel, Cameron Heyward, Al Woods, Brian Arnfelt, Nick Williams.
Arnfelt keeps showing stout play, and I’d like to see what he can do against higher level of competition from here out.  Could be a real sleeper.  Williams is back from the wounded and showed some of the promise we drafted him for by getting a nice sack.  Both of these guys are interesting, and it will be difficult to sail them both through waivers.

Outside linebackers (4).
Lamarr Woodley, Jason Worilds, Jarvis Jones, Adrian Robinson, Chris Carter, Alan Baxter.
Carter or Robinson, Robinson or Carter…

 Inside linebackers (5).
Lawrence Timmons, Larry Foote, Stevenson Sylvester, Marshall McFadden, Vince Williams, Kion Wilson, Brian Rolle, Terence Garvin.
Didn’t see much from this group this week.  Personally, I’d keep Rolle and try to move Williams to the PS.

Cornerbacks (6).
Ike Taylor, Cortez Allen, William Gay, Curtis Brown, Josh Victorian, DeMarcus Van Dyke, Terry Hawthorn, Isaiah Green, Ryan Steed, Devin Smith, Ross Ventrone.
Hawthorn sighting!  Again, no one did much to separate from the pack, IMO.  Victorian has some experience, Van Dyke has speed, Hawthorne has upside.  Another 2 games may be necessary to make this call.

Safeties (4)
Troy Polamalu, Ryan Clark, Shamarko Thomas, Robert Golden, Damon Cromartie-Smith.
DC-S showed better and may be even with Golden.  What Shamarko and Golden have over DC-S is that they can play some corner in a pinch.  Still, this is a tight race.

Specialists.
Shaun Suisham (PK), Greg Warren (LS), Drew Butler (P), Brian Moorman (P), Danny Hrapmann.
Some punter battle drama, I guess.

Practice squad.
WR JD Woods, LB Vince Williams, NT Loni Fangupo, DE Nick Williams, DE Brian Arnfelt, CB Terry Hawthorn; 3 waiver wire adds with PS eligibility at LB, QB, S.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/le-veon-bell-injury-creates-uncertainty-pittsburgh-steelers-171032633.html

Really only interesting to note:

Tomlin said Steelers rookie running back Le’Veon Bell will not play this weekend because of a mid-foot sprain, and there is no word if he will miss any regular season games. It appears very unlikely he will play again in the preseason even if the injury is not severe. Tomlin said Bell is slated to obtain a second opinion, which means the injury is definitely serious.

Fucking better not be a Lisfranc.  But if it is, I think we still have some of Duce's old grays in a linen closet.

Going out on a limb and predicting we only score 13 against the Chiefs.  Who will look like Super Bowl contenders against us.  Kidding, of course.  I think.  Maybe.

Yeah, well, fuck.

There must be several degrees of severity, given the 6-8 week timeframe.  I say don't rush the kid back, let's let Red, Dwyer, and LSH start the season.

So I guess Bell will be on the PUP list, and that might be enough to keep Batch and LSH around for a while.

I think LSH is a lock, COP back.  Batch, hard to say, will need to make his case.  Batch has no speed, and LSH has value as KR.  Curious that LSH hasn't seen that role in the preseason.
