Welp, I read over the game day thread, and I would be lying if I said I thought they'd win this game.   Was shocked to see the victory formation.  I almost didn't recognize it.

Having said that, this was a really enjoyable game, even if cleveland shat the bed versus cincinatti.

Ike >>> Keenan Lewis.  Or so I'm told.

Would have preferred to cut Ike and extend Keenan.  Maybe short-term pain but the better plan for the cap and long-term on-field performance.

Instead, they actually raised Ike's cap hit for next year.

I don't think Ike is playing at Burnt Alexander or Duhwayne Washington levels but at some point, you have to cut bait and go in a way that plans for the future, performance and financially speaking

Didn't get to see the game, but am surprised they won.

Side note : I was at the Bears/Ravens game today (what a weather nightmare) and was sitting right next to the visiting team tunnel, and was able to tell Flacco " Fuck you, you suck Fucco" right to his face... So worth sitting through the rain

Is it bad that my first thought was, "Dang, I'll bet we drop down another slot in the draft next year?"

I hope he cried a little.

This.

Mrs. is still keeping the faith, doesn't much care about draft spots or the long view.  My thinking is 9-7 or 10-6 are absolutely going to be necessary, especially with the Jets and Fins sitting at 5 wins and Ravens, Browns, Bills, Tits, Chargers, and Raiders all tangled at 4 wins.  Could be done with 9-7 if head-to-head (Jets) comes into play, but bottom line, you have to be (virtually) perfect, and the Steelers haven't shown that.  Big win against the Lions, but would not surprise me in the least to drop one to the Brownies or Fins or something stupid like that.

Four divisional matchups.

Must wins:  @ Browns, Fins, Browns.

Have to go 2 of 3 (or maybe 1-3) against:  @ Ravens, Bengals, @ Packers (w/ Rodgers back).

My guess?  The rally falls short, but we screw the pooch for a top-10.  Which was what I said a week or two ago.  So basically, we're on course.

I'll say:

@ Browns 11/24:  Steelers 23, Browns 17.  5-6.
@ Ravens 11/28:  Ravens 20, Steelers 16. 5-7.
Dolphins 12/8:  Steelers 27, Dolphins 13. 6-7.
Bengals 12/15:  Steelers 27, Bengals 24.  7-7.
@ Packers 12/22:  Packers 34, Steelers 23. 7-8.
Browns 12/29:  Steelers 31, Browns 13.  8-8, 15th pick in the draft.

I've tried to root for the draft pick, but I just can't.  I'm not under any illusion that this team can win a championship but I'm still rooting for that extra week of football.  Given that the 6 seed would play either Indy or Cincy, I could see a round one victory before the massacre at the hands of New England or Denver.

Of course, we'll probably just blow it in Cleveland, 8 turnover style.  That would sum up this season nicely.

This.

A win provides a little hope for the week. Sure it's false hope, but it's something.
