As mentioned in another thread:

Cliffs Notes -- NFL:  Bill Leavy missed illegal formation call on FG attempt.  Our bad.  No hard feelings.  *fist bump*...?

Seriously, we should've started some kind of pinned Apology Thread that affected the Steelers when we started this board.  We'd have quite the repository of information.

All in all, I don't think the NFL skipped a beat with the replacement refs.

Come on guys, they said they were sorry.  What else do you want?  Not like the refs can get docked a draft pick.

Forgot who said it on Twitter (Keisel?)...but when are refs going to start being fined or penalized for fucking up a call?

If a player can be fined for wearing the wrong color socks...

Hate to agree with Belichick, but he says ALL plays should be reviewable and subject to challenge.

I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I'd get pretty close.  Missed penalties are a slippery slope.  You could argue a hold or illegal contact on every play.

That kind of stuff is tough to catch too.  I didn't hear anybody mention the illegal formation call in the KC game until well after the game.  Maybe I just missed it...

Might be tough to catch, but clearly could have changed the outcome.  Take how long to run that under the hood?  15 seconds?  Hell, I'd be amenable to giving coaches another red hankie if all were reviewable.

And maybe the fact that game-changing plays ARE tough to always catch in real time with real refs is all the more reason to allow everything to be challenged?

I would not go for everything to be challenged as aj said many are judgment calls.  But formation issues are probably the easiest thing for replay to fix - they should be reviewable.

Also I thought I heard somewhere that the fake punt spot/fumble was not reviewable - not sure why.  Coaches challenge spots, and if a play is blown dead you can still call a fumble and change possession if there is an immediate recovery.
